this is where
i remember

that beneath
the routines,
the responsibilities,
the ordinary rhythm
of a day…

life
was waiting
to be noticed.

Tonight I can feel
a hundred unwritten pages
pressing gently against my being,

each one yearning for release,
yet too weighed down
to open its wings.

I hold them reverently within
until I can embrace
the quiet currents
and gift each one
to the sky.

this unrelenting storm of noise

has been battering my being

for days.

finally,

it begins to calm,

the downpour slowing

to a trickle.

then,

a single drop

slides down my windowpane,

reflecting

the light of this world,

this day,

these people…

my life.

tonight…

simple presence.

there was kindness
on the highest grocery shelf.

i almost walked past it.

attention
is how grace
enters memory.

my spirit stirs…

restless and yearning.

to break free,
to spread my wings,
and embrace the sky.

the rain begins.

for a moment,

i remember

that joy
has a body.

a hand held.

a bird overhead.

the smell
of summer earth.

entire worlds

inside
a single moment.

i write to pay attention.

when i look back
upon a day,

i find treasures

i never knew
i was carrying.
